Welcome to A Word for Today (the “Site”). The terms “we”, “us” and “our” refer to A Word for Today. By visiting, creating an account, making a donation, or receiving bonus materials (gifts) through the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Site.
OVERVIEW
These Terms, together with any policies referenced here (including our Privacy Policy), govern your use of the Site. Please read them carefully, as they contain important information about your rights and responsibilities.
SECTION 1 – ACCESS AND ACCOUNTS
You may be required to create an account to access certain features. You agree to provide accurate and complete information, keep your credentials confidential, and notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account. You must be the age of majority in your province, state, or country of residence to use the Site.
SECTION 2 – DONATIONS, GIFTS, AND TAX RECEIPTS
A WORD FOR TODAY is affiliated with New Beginnings Ministry, from the city of LaSalle, Québec — a federally registered Canadian charitable organization. For any donation of $20 or more made to A WORD FOR TODAY, a tax receipt is issued by New Beginnings Ministry, less the value of any bonus material (gifts) received. Tax receipts are published by the ministry in the month of February following the applicable fiscal year. As per the guidelines of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), charities are not permitted to refund donations once given. For further details, please consult the CRA website.
When you make a donation through the Site, we may provide bonus materials (such as books or digital resources) as gifts in recognition of your support. Donations are processed by secure third‑party payment processors (PayPal, Stripe, and widely accepted credit cards). You agree to abide by their terms and policies. To the extent permitted by law, donations are final and non‑refundable.
SECTION 3 – PRICES, BILLING AND PAYMENT INFORMATION
Amounts associated with donations or other paid offerings are subject to change without notice. You agree to provide current, complete, and accurate payment and account information for all transactions and to promptly update such information (including email and payment method details) to ensure we can complete your transactions.
SECTION 4 – CONTENT AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
All content on the Site—including text, graphics, images, audio, video, and the selection and arrangement thereof—is owned by A Word for Today or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may use the Site for personal, non‑commercial purposes only. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, display, perform, or create derivative works from any content without our prior written consent.
SECTION 5 – OPTIONAL TOOLS AND THIRD‑PARTY LINKS
The Site may provide access to or embed third‑party tools or content (e.g., YouTube) and link to third‑party websites. We do not control and are not responsible for these third parties. Your use of third‑party tools or sites is at your own risk and subject to their terms and privacy policies.
SECTION 6 – USER CONDUCT AND PROHIBITED USES
You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. The Site and all content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non‑infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error‑free.
SECTION 8 – LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by law, A Word for Today and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, resulting from your use of the Site or reliance on any content.
SECTION 9 – INDEMNIFICATION
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless A Word for Today and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your violation of these Terms or your use of the Site.
SECTION 10 – TERMINATION
We may suspend or terminate your access to all or part of the Site at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is otherwise harmful. Upon termination, the rights and obligations that by their nature should survive will remain in effect.
SECTION 11 – GOVERNING LAW AND VENUE
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Québec and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict‑of‑laws principles. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the courts located in Québec for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site.
SECTION 12 – CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and post the updated Terms on the Site. Your continued use of the Site following the posting of changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.
